About Horseford Farmhouse
Horseford farmhouse began life in the fifteenth century as a three-roomed Hall house.
An upper floor, staircases and chimneys were added in the sixteenth century and the dairy wing is a later addition.
A major fire in 1830 partially destroyed the west end of the house, which was rebuilt in the style of the time with higher ceilings, larger windows and a slate roof.
The modern farm buildings to the west and the newly-converted barn to the east are no longer part of the property. The majority of the land was sold in 1986 when Horseford ceased to be a working dairy farm.
We are currently in the middle of a project to find homes for a group of wild ponies.
This involves careful handling and training and there are always some with us who are undergoing gentle rehabilitation.

About the area
Horseford is three miles from Witheridge, a quiet and pretty village with post office and general stores, newsagents, public houses, doctor's surgery and veterinary practice.
The nearest petrol stations are at Chawleigh (6 miles) and South Molton (9 miles).
The Little Dart river flows along the valley west of Witheridge and through Drayford to the Worlingtons. East and West Worlington are very pretty Devon hamlets with lovely churches that are well worth a visit.
There are miles and miles of quiet country lanes to explore - the flora and fauna are
second to none - and Horseford Farm is
